Indiana University School of Nursing proudly announces that Wendy R. Trueblood Miller, PhD, RN, CNS, FAAN, FAES, professor and Sally Reahard Endowed Chair and executive associate dean of research, has been competitively selected for induction into the 2026 Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing’s International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame. Sigma will honor this year’s inductees during its 37th International Nursing Research Congress, July 16-18, in Toronto, Canada.
Trueblood Miller is one of just 26 exceptional nurse researchers worldwide this year who are being selected for this honor. Honorees represent Australia, Canada, Ireland, Israel, Italy, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States. Each inductee has achieved significant, sustained national or international recognition for their research.
“The 2026 International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame inductees have amplified our collective voice through research that reaches policymakers, transforms clinical practice, and improves lives around the globe. Their impact is proof that when nurses lead together, the whole world benefits,” said Sigma president Liz Westcott.
Trueblood Miller’s independent program of research is focused on generating knowledge that will advance the state of the science in chronic disease self-management, with particular emphasis on adults with epilepsy. She has a specific interest in complex systems analysis of social media data, and her recent work includes training researchers around the Midwestern United State to apply the social determinants of health in their research to multiply their impact in improving nursing care and health. She is the eighth IU School of Nursing faculty member to earn this honor.
“Dr. Trueblood Miller’s induction into the Sigma International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame is a well-deserved recognition of her extraordinary contributions to nursing science,” said Janet S. Carpenter, PhD, RN, FAAN, dean of the IU School of Nursing. “Her innovative research and commitment to improving the lives of individuals with chronic illness exemplify the very best of our profession. We are immensely proud to celebrate this achievement of her work.”
Established in 2010, the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame recognizes nurse researchers whose sustained programs of research have delivered measurable impact from transforming clinical practice and shaping health policy, to pioneering new methods that push the boundaries of nursing science. The 2026 inductees join more than 300 of the most distinguished nurse researchers globally, whose work has left a lasting mark on nursing for generations to come.
