Biography
Cheryl Mistry, MSN, RN, FNP-C, is a dedicated nursing educator and board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a passion for advancing nursing education, promoting evidence-based practice, and improving patient outcomes. She currently serves as a lecturer at Indiana University School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, while continuing to practice clinically as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
In her academic role, Mistry teaches undergraduate nursing students in courses focused on maternal and child health, community and population health, health assessment, and the transition from nursing student to professional registered nurse. She is actively involved in coordinating community-based clinical experiences, mentoring nursing students, and preparing graduating seniors for the NCLEX-RN examination and their transition into professional nursing practice. Mistry is committed to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, clinical judgment, and professional growth.
In addition to her work in nursing education, Mistry currently provides comprehensive primary care to older adults residing in assisted living communities. Her clinical practice emphasizes chronic disease management, preventive care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and individualized, patient-centered treatment. Her continued involvement in direct patient care allows her to integrate real-world clinical experiences into the classroom, helping students bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Mistry is passionate about fostering the next generation of nurses and empowering students to become knowledgeable, compassionate, and confident healthcare professionals. Through her combined roles as an educator and advanced practice provider, she strives to make a meaningful impact on nursing education, clinical practice, and the communities she serves.
