Biography
Dr. Catherine R. Miller, DNP, RN, CNE, SANE, is a lecturer at the Indiana University School of Nursing in Indianapolis, where she teaches undergraduate nursing students in both classroom and clinical settings. She brings more than 30 years of nursing experience and over a decade of academic leadership, teaching, and simulation-based education to her role.
Dr. Miller earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Indiana State University, a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Indiana University East, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, and an Associate of Science in Nursing from Purdue University. She is a Certified Nurse Educator and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), with extensive clinical expertise in emergency nursing, forensic nursing, case management, and community health.
Dr. Miller has taught courses in pathophysiology, pharmacology, health assessment, and advanced cardiovascular life support. She also held faculty and simulation leadership positions at Indiana University East. Her scholarship focuses on simulation-based learning, emergency preparedness, interprofessional education, and strategies that support student success and transition to practice. Her work has been presented regionally, nationally, and internationally and has been published in peer-reviewed nursing and healthcare education venues.
Dr. Miller is actively involved in professional and community service and has received numerous recognitions for teaching excellence, mentorship, and innovation in nursing education, including the University of Indianapolis School of Nursing DAISY Award and the IU School of Nursing Julie LaMothe Faculty Award for Interprofessional Education. She is passionate about preparing future nurses through evidence-based teaching, experiential learning, and meaningful clinical engagement.
