Biography

Dr. Hossein Khalili is Professor and Executive Associate Dean of Clinical Academic Programs at the Indiana University School of Nursing. As the School's Chief Academic Officer for its core campuses in Bloomington, Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis, he provides strategic leadership for clinically focused academic programs, curriculum innovation, accreditation, faculty development, student success, and partnerships that strengthen nursing education and workforce development. He leads initiatives that advance academic excellence, educational innovation, and teaching quality while supporting the School's mission to prepare the next generation of nursing leaders.

An internationally recognized scholar and executive leader, Dr. Khalili is widely known for advancing interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP), nursing education, and healthcare workforce development. He developed the internationally recognized Interprofessional Socialization Framework, which has significantly influenced professional identity formation, team-based education, and collaborative practice worldwide. His scholarship continues to shape educational policy, curriculum design, and health professions education across diverse healthcare systems.

Dr. Khalili is the founding President of InterprofessionalResearch.Global (IPR.Global), the Global Network for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice Research, and Co-Convener of the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC), where he collaborates with educators, researchers, healthcare organizations, and policymakers to advance interprofessional education, research, and practice internationally.

Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Khalili held senior academic leadership positions at Winston-Salem State University, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and Fanshawe College, leading strategic initiatives in academic administration, accreditation, curriculum transformation, faculty development, and interprofessional education.

Throughout his career, Dr. Khalili has led more than 30 funded research projects totaling over $14 million, authored approximately 100 peer-reviewed publications and reports, 16 books and book chapters, co-developed five validated assessment instruments, and delivered nearly 200 presentations and keynote addresses worldwide. His sustained contributions to scholarship and academic leadership have earned numerous national and international honors, including Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (FNAP). Through his leadership, scholarship, and commitment to innovation, Dr. Khalili continues to advance nursing education, collaborative practice, and healthcare transformation in the United States and globally.
