Dr. Bassett teaches across the undergraduate curriculum and within the RN-BSN IU Online Consortium, with emphasis in leadership, nursing management, global health, and capstone evidence-based practice courses.
Her teaching philosophy is grounded in engaged, student-centered learning and the intentional integration of theory, practice, and professional formation. She designs rigorous learning experiences that cultivate clinical judgment, systems thinking, and leadership capacity in complex healthcare environments. Committed to pedagogical innovation, Dr. Bassett has developed and implemented high-impact educational strategies, including leadership escape rooms, disaster preparedness simulations, and structured evidence-based practice modules that guide students through authentic quality improvement and inquiry processes.
She also serves as a faculty facilitator for the Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center, advancing collaborative practice competencies and preparing students to lead within interprofessional teams.
Her program of scholarship focuses on innovative teaching methodologies, cultural humility, and global service-learning. She leads immersive study abroad experiences in the Dominican Republic that are intentionally designed to enhance students’ cultural confidence and ability to deliver culturally congruent, equitable care to diverse populations.
Drawing upon her clinical background in neonatal intensive care and nurse leadership, Dr. Bassett brings depth of experience, compassion, and practical insight to her teaching.
