Alida Kneisel

Established in 1996 by family members of Alida Kneisel. Alida attended IU School of Nursing (BSN '62) and pursued a career in nursing at Long Beach California Veterans Administration Hospital.

Criteria:

Anita Aldrich Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2013 for Bloomington School of Public Health Professor Emerita Dr. Anita Aldrich. A firm believer in lifelong learning, Anita gave the gift in appreciation of the nursing care she received.

Archie Koon and Eleanor Williamson

Established in 1993 by Archie and Eleanor Koon, a graduate of IU School of Nursing in 1937.

Established in 2006 by the friends and family of Barbara Chalko (MSN '83), who was a teacher at IUSON and four-time recipient of the "Outstanding Faculty Award."

Barbara Dailey Memorial 

Established in 1995 by Barbara Dailey's family. Barbara was an esteemed faculty member IU School of Nursing in the Community Health Nursing Department.

Betsy & James U Guthrie, MD Scholarship in Honor of the IU School of Nursing Class of 1949

Class of 1949 alumna Betsy Guthrie created this scholarship to honor not only her late husband, but also her beloved classmates who have also contributed through their class treasury as well as with individual gifts.

Bettie Kramer

Established in 1999 by Bettie J. Kramer, a friend of IU School of Nursing.

Beverly Ross for Riley Nurses

Established in 2000 by Beverly Ross after 31 years of service to the IU School of Nursing to honor and thank the many nurses at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children who have selflessly shared their time and expertise with the students.

Criteria: 

  • Enrolled in RN to BSN program
  • Enrolled in RN to MSN program
  • Currently employed at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children
    • Applicant must provide employment verification from Riley Hospital.  This can be in the form of a memo on Riley or IU Health letterhead with your supervisor's signature and phone number
  • IUPUI campus only
  • Is recognized by colleagues as an excellent nurse
  • Financial need is not a criterion for selection

Carl Malcom Sr Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2012 by a bequest by Michael Malcom Hoback

Criteria: 

  • Graduate or Undergraduate nursing student
  • be a student from Lawrance Central High School
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater while in nursing school
  • demonstrate financial need
  • Have other activities outside of academic studies; i.e. sports, band, work, etc.

Charles E. & Thelma Walters (Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.)

Thelma, a graduate of the School of Nursing Class of 1938, through a bequest established scholarships at both the IU School of Nursing and the IU School of Medicine in honor of her husband, Charles E. Walters, MD, a graduate of the School of Medicine, Class of 1937. The scholarship is to assist nursing students who are graduates of a high school in Indiana.

Clara Harman Pugsley-Florence Nightingale

Established in 1978 by Harman Pugsley, who graduated from Indiana University in 1942.

Class of 1955

Established in 2003 by friends and members of the Class of 1955 on the occasion of their 50th class reunion to encourage and support the role of nursing at the BSN level.

  • 2.5 or higher GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities or professionalism as a student nurse

Class of 1963 (Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.)

This scholarship was created to commemorate the IUSON Class of 1963's 50th reunion.  The scholarship is for IUPUI nursing students from Indiana who demonstrate financial need and who are currently involved in clinical coursework.

Criteria:

  • Graduate or Undergradute Nursing student
  • IUPUI campus only
  • State of Indiana resident
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must have reached a point in education that student is working with patients

Dagna Simpson (Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.)

This scholarship was established in 2004 by an estate gift from Dagna Simpson, PhD, whose career was in teaching English, but who believed strongly in education and wished to make a difference at a time of nursing shortage.

Established in 2000 by the family and friends of Diane Groff.

Diane McCabe (Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.)

Established by Diane's family and friends in her memory in celebration of her excellence in clinical nursing, her dedication to the nursing profession, and her tireless advocacy for women's health.

Donald & Sonna Merk RISE Scholarship

IU alumni Donald and Sonna Merk, RN, PhD (IUSON alumna), established this scholarship to support undergraduate nursing students at IUPUI.

  • Must be enrolled in courses identified as "RISE" courses

Dotaline Allen Scholarships (Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.)

Established in 1966 by various donors in honor of Dr. Dotaline E. Allen, Director of the Division of Nursing Education at Indiana University from 1950 to 1965.

Emily Homquist/Dorcas Rock Brewer aka "Class of 1961" (Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.)

Established in memory of Dean Emily Holmquist and faculty member Dorcas Rock Brewer by members of the BSN Class of 1961 in celebration of their 50th reunion in 2011.

Established in 1989 by Mary Fulk Kopsch, a graduate of IU School of Nursing in 1948, and Dr. Paul J. Kopsch in honor of Mary's sister, Esther Fulk Ross.

Florence Nightingale Scholarship (Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.)

Originally established in 1960 from the Nurses' Alumnae Association Loan Fund, this has become the primary scholarship fund benefiting students at the Indiana University School of Nursing.

George T & Barbara W Schilling

George and Barbara established this scholarship in 2011 to honor their children: Carolyn Schilling Gery and George White Schilling and to honor the memory of their daughter Martha "Marty" Vera Schilling (BA 1975, Indiana University), who died of breast cancer in March 2011. George and Barbara also wish to recognize with gratitude the nurses who provided their daughter with compassionate and quality care.

Established in 1999 by David M. Smith and Mary Ann Smith in memory of their daughter Marcy Smith who died at age 37 and to honor the critical care nurses who served Marcy. Many of Marcy's classmates from Kokomo High School also contributed to the fund.

Margaret C. & Anne Marie Kuzmitz Scholarship (Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.)

Established through a bequest to honor her sister, Margaret, who was a nurse, Anne Marie wanted to assist students in need of financial asssistance who is pursuing a degree in nursing on any IU campus.

Marian Golubiewski

Mary and Gene Tempel RISE Scholarship

IUSON alumna and nurse practitioner Mary Tempel and IU School of Philanthropy Dean Eugene Tempel established this scholarship to honor Mary's work with IUSON and in the field of nursing, as a whole. The scholarship is intended for IUPUI undergraduate nursing students.

Created in memory of Pamela Ritter Willhite, BSN 1968. Pamela graduated in the top ten of her class and was named "Student Nurse of the Year." In tribute to Pamela who received financial assistance when she was a student, her family and friends established this scholarship in her name to assist future undergraduate nursing students.

Roderick D. and Helen Kinnear Mackenzie Scholarship

Created by Sheona Mackenzie and Kinnear, Mackenzie, Roderick, and Neil Theobald in tribute to Sheona's parents Roderick and Helen Kinnear Mackenzie. Roderick wanted to study politics and music but was offered a scholarship for the ministry only, so did not attend college. Helen was a gifted student and wanted to study medicine but was only able to afford nursing school. Roderick and Helen valued education and firmly believed that access to education should be made available to all and not just the privileged. They immigrated from Scotland to the United States so their children could study any field they chose.

Additional Essay Required: The recipient will be an incoming nursing students at the School on the Bloomington campus. Who is a first generation college student. The Scholarship is renewable for five semesters, encompassing the three years of nursing school (a total of six semesters). The Scholarhsip will be automatically renewed for the recipient. The recipient will not need to apply. At any time, there will only be one recipient. Once that recipient has completed nursing school, another receipient will be chosen.


Rosalyn L. Weems Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by George and Captoria Weems to honor their daughter, Rosalyn, who passed away in 1995.  Rosalyn was a former student of IU School of Nursing in Bloomington.

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale
  • Recipients are not eligible to recieve scholarship in successive years
