Biosketch
Dr. Welch's research focuses on fluid and dietary self-management in individuals receiving hemodialysis. She has completed several studies with funding from the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, American Nephrology Nurses' Association, the National Institute of Nursing Research, and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. In addition to presenting at national and international conferences, Dr. Welch has published her research in ANNA Journal, Advances in Renal Replacement Therapy, Clinical Nurse Specialist, International Journal of Nursing Studies, Journal of Advanced Nursing, Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing, Journal of Renal Nutrition, Nephrology Nursing Journal, Renal Failure, Research in Nursing & Health, and Western Journal of Nursing Research. In addition, she serves as a manuscript reviewer for numerous nursing and interdisciplinary journals. Dr. Welch has participated as a grant reviewer for numerous organizations. She has received several honors and awards including the Baron Quality of Life Award, the Nephrology Nurse Researcher Award from the American Nephrology Nurses' Association, the New Investigator Award from the chronicity section of the Midwest Nursing Research Society, the Award for Conducting Nursing Research from Clarian Health Partners, and the Excellence in Research Award from Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. She has been an active participant for various professional organizations. She teaches a variety of courses primarily in the graduate curriculum and actively mentors graduate students in their research.
