Doctor of Nursing Practice

Program Overview
Advanced Clinical DNP

Achieving Population Health Outcomes

The Doctor of Nursing Practice Advanced Clinical track is a Post-MSN DNP track designed to prepare nurses to move into high demand clinical practice nursing roles, fulfilling both the career advancement needs of Indiana’s nursing workforce as well as the state’s need for more advanced nurses skilled in achieving population health outcomes.

Full-time and part-time plans of study allow you to set your own pace. The informative curriculum explorer below will help you visualize how the DNP coursework is built to advance knowledge, skills, and abilities as you progress through the DNP program. The Advanced Clinical track curriculum may be completed in a full-time, five-semester plan of study or in a part-time, eight-semester plan of study. Advanced Clinical track cohorts start each fall.

The DNP degree requires a minimum of 1000 total clinical practicum hours. Students may transfer up to 500 clinical hours from their Master of Science in Nursing into the DNP. An additional 500 hours are required in the DNP curriculum. Variable credit courses allow students to complete additional credits to meet the 1000 total required hours. Applicants submit verification of MSN clinical hours with the application using the MSN Clinical Hours Verification Form completed by the institution granting the master’s degree.

The DNP Advanced Clinical Track plan of study was approved by DNP Curriculum & Student Affairs 4/11/2019, and approved by Faculty Council 4/22/2019.
