Writing for Publication in the Health Sciences

2022 Course dates have not yet been set. Please check back in 2022 for information.

2 Options Available (2021 options, subject to change in future):

Option 1:  Continuing Education Intensive Workshop

Option 2:  Continuing Education Workshop with Practicum:

Workshop: This 2 day intensive workshop introduces participants to preparing a manuscript for publication of research or other scholarly work such as quality assurance initiatives, evidence-based projects, and program evaluations.  Content is organized to take participants through the process of journal selection, manuscript preparation, and submission.  Contemporary issues in publishing, and publication ethics are discussed.

Practicum Option: The practicum option offers participants additional guidance in the development of a manuscript.  Three seminars across 6 weeks provide participants with structured feedback, peer review, and opportunities to discuss challenges in manuscript preparation.  Online discussion forums will be available, and participants are expected to complete weekly writing assignments throughout the 6 week period. Practicum participants must submit an interest form detailing their project status prior to registration (see pre-requisite section below).

Audience: The program is applicable to faculty, clinicians, and students in health sciences.

Pre-Requisites: All participants are encouraged to have a tentative title and brief outline of a proposed manuscript prepared prior to the course. Participants choosing the Practicum option are required to have a tentative title and brief outline prior to the course and must submit an interest form prior to registration to be considered for this option.
