Nurse Aide Program Director & Instructor Training Seminar

The Nurse Aide Program Director and Instructor Training Seminar (NAPDITS), is a train-the-trainer program for both program directors and program instructors of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Program. During the seminar, you will focus on the concepts essential to teaching adults as well as techniques for preparing and teaching nurse aides in classroom and clinical settings. You will develop a program of learning according to established criteria.
Any questions about the qualifications required to serve as program director (RN) or designated instructor (RN or LPN) should be directed to the Indiana State Department of Health.
This seminar is offered in two parts. Both parts are required to successfully complete the training. Part 1 is a one-day, in-person training on the IUPUI Campus. Part 2 is an online course that will take an average computer user about 2–3 hours to complete. A state-issued photo ID is required to check in at the in-person training.
Registration for the program is limited. Advance registration is required. Registration close dates are listed in the "When" section below, and occur a few days prior to the activity date to ensure all participants receive the appropriate communications and information prior to the workshop.
One day in-person session. Completion of an online course is required within approximately two weeks of the in-person session.
Participants are responsible for printing all handouts, which are e-mailed to the e-mail address used in registration a few days prior to the workshop. If someone else registers you and does not enter your e-mail address, they will receive all communications and are responsible for forwarding them.
Important Note: All handouts are sent via email the week prior to the in person workshop to be printed or saved for use on a device/laptop during the workshop. Participants must print handouts ahead if they desire hard copies- no handouts are provided during the workshop and there are not photocopying or printing services available in the building the day of the workshop.

Please note: we reserve the right to cancel the in-person session in the case of inclement weather. If an in-person session is canceled, the online portion will still take place, and we will make every effort to reschedule the in-person session as soon as possible. Please see above regarding plans in place for possible inclement weather in March 2020. We will not reimburse any travel or other related costs due to cancellations.
Online portion: The online course assignment is generally due about 10 days after the in-person session, but it varies from session to session. The due date will be communicated to the participants via e-mail as well as in the online course site when they are given access. Participants must follow the instructions in the confirmation e-mail for creating a guest account prior to the session in order to be added to the online course site. Participants will have access to the online course for the full time period between the in-person session and the due date. No due date extensions are given for this activity.
The in-person part of the training will take place at the IUPUI Campus Center, 420 University Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46202. The Campus Center is located at the intersection of Michigan Street and University Boulevard.
The room number will be provided with the materials to registrants durign the week prior to the activity date. Handouts are not provided, registrants will be responsible for printing them ahead of time or bringing a device or laptop to the workshop to follow along. There are no public printers or copiers in the Campus Center.
Walk-in registrations are not accepted.

Drive west on Michigan Street and turn left on Barnhill Drive. Turn left on Vermont Street. Use the second entrance of the Vermont Street Garage on your left. The cost of parking is NOT included.

Beginning the day after the in-person session you will participate in an online adult learning concepts course. You will have about two weeks to complete the course, submit the assignment, and complete the course evaluation.
