Training in Health Behavior Research
Program Requirements
Predoctoral and postdoctoral progress on the following items will be reviewed each year, and continued support will be dependent on a satisfactory review.
Predoctoral (post-master's degree or BSN to PhD students)
- Meet core requirements for doctoral study at Indiana University
- Register every term for a full-time course of study (8 credit hours minimum fall and spring terms; 6 credit hours minimum summer term)
- Register for and attend J690 Health Behaviors Seminar every fall and spring term
- Participate as an active member of mentor’s research team
- Submit an application for an Individual National Research Service Award (F31) during the second year of support
- Present research at annual scientific meetings
- Submit manuscripts for publication
Postdoctoral
- Attend J690 Health Behavior Seminar every fall and spring term
- Register for and attend G504 (3 cr): Research Ethics course
- Attend 2 specialty research seminars series each year (e.g., journal clubs, department seminars)
- Participate as an active member of mentor’s research team
- Submit applications to obtain small grants for research support
- Submit an application for an NIH R-series grant or equivalent extramural funding by the end of second year of support
- Present research at annual scientific meetings
- Submit manuscripts for publication
