Training in Health Behavior Research

Program Description

This training program is designed to enhance trainees’ research knowledge and skills preparing them to:

  • Analyze concepts and theories from behavioral, biological, and nursing sciences that are relevant to health promotion, health behavior change, and/or quality of life research.
  • Synthesize concepts, theories, research findings from the behavioral, biological, and nursing sciences to frame research concerned with health promotion, health behavior change, and/or quality of life.
  • Develop and test instruments that measure concepts related to health promotion, health behavior change, and/or quality of life.   
  • Design and conduct research to advance knowledge related to the development and testing of tailored interventions to modify health behaviors and/or improve quality of life.  
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research collaboration.
  • Produce quality scientific presentations, publications, and grants.

The Health Behaviors Research Framework describes many of the constructs/concepts that are focused on by fellows.
