New Grant Submission Process Overview
At least six months prior to deadline
- Principal Investigator (PI)/Project Director (PD) will first meet with Faculty Research Group (FRG), start proposal development, seek peer review, and establish goal for grant submission deadline.
At least two months prior to the deadline
- PI/PD will submit Intent to Submit Form to chairperson and meet with Center for Research and Scholarship pre-award team.
- PI/PD will contact Rebecca Cole or Gavyn Ryan to set up an appointment.
PI/PD needs to be prepared to discuss:- Grant timeline/process (PI/PD and Center for Research and Scholarship responsibilities)
- Preliminary budget (e.g., personnel, supplies, equipment, subcontract(s))
- Resources/facilities information
- Biosketches, letters of support, human subjects certification
- Agency guidelines
- At least two months prior to deadline, PI/PD must obtain final peer review.
Three weeks prior to the deadline, PI/PD will meet with the pre-award team to finalize budget and justification.
Two weeks prior to the deadline, PI/PD will submit to the pre-award team the final version of the research plan and will sign required documentation.
Pre-award team will be responsible for compiling, copying and electronically routing the grant application.
Note: PI/PD and pre-award team will collaborate throughout the entire grant development and submission process. In order to submit competitive proposals and maximize potential for success, ALL grant proposals must be peer reviewed prior to being submitted.
