Internal Funding Opportunities

Internal funding is available to support faculty conducting research in the areas of nursing education, health systems, and clinical nursing. These funds are generated each year by indirect costs received from externally funded research grants. The purpose of Research Investment Funds (RIF) is to enhance the ability of IUPUI faculty to successfully compete for external grants to support research.

This funding mechanism is intended to provide either:

  • Pilot funding for new investigators to conduct preliminary studies/research projects, or
  • Supplemental funding for investigators to complete or add novel elements to an ongoing project.

Special funds will be set aside for the next three years to support various areas of research:

  • Nursing education
  • Informatics
  • Health policy
  • Administration
  • Clinical nursing science (including health promotion, health behavior, and quality of life in acute and chronic illness)

Both qualitative and quantitative research projects are encouraged.
