IUSON post-doctoral fellow Lisa Carter-Harris announced as a Meritorious Student Winner
IUSON T32 postdoctoral fellow, Lisa Carter-Harris, PhD, APRN, NP-C, was competitively selected as the Meritorious Student Winner for her recent study exploring individual health beliefs about lung cancer screening in individuals at risk for the development of lung cancer. The abstract submission, “Lung Cancer Screening: What Do High-Risk Smokers Know and Believe?” reports findings from a study Dr. Carter-Harris and her colleagues Dr. Susan Rawl, Dr. DuyKhanh Ceppa, and Dr. Nasser Hanna conducted to evaluate the knowledge and beliefs of high-risk smokers about lung cancer risk and lung cancer screening. Dr. Carter-Harris will present her abstract on April 22, 2015, at the Society of Behavioral Medicine’s 36th Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions in San Antonio, Texas. Upon completing her postdoctoral fellowship in June, Dr. Carter-Harris will transition into a tenure track faculty position, and plans to continue to study health behaviors related to lung cancer screening and examine the influence of lung cancer stigma on screening participation.
