Making a Difference Through Philanthropy
All gifts regardless of size or designation are important and do indeed make a difference in the School’s mission of education, research and service. Gifts may be restricted to a specific account for a specific use or they can be unrestricted to be used where the need is greatest. Gifts are tax deductible and can take the form of an outright gift, a pledge payable over multiple years, or a planned gift.
An annual gift of $1,000 or more qualifies you as a member of the School’s Dean’s Council. As a donor at this level, you are invited as a guest of the dean to a special Dean’s Council event. Other benefits include invitations to various school, campus, and university events; notification of special announcements; and receipt of the School’s newsletter.
Ways to Give
Outright Gifts
Gifts made in cash, check, money order, or credit card; appreciated property in the form of real estate or capital gain securities; appreciated stock; tangible personal property; or a combination of these various forms.
Planned Gifts
Gifts made through a trust, last will and testament, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, retirement plan, or life insurance policy.
Class Gifts
Nursing alumni celebrating class reunions may support programs, projects, or scholarships at the School. This can be done in honor of their class, a beloved faculty member, or class member.
Memorial Gifts
Many generous supporters of the School ask that upon their passing, memorial contributions be made to the School.
Tribute Gifts
Gifts honoring a retirement, birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion.
Matching Gifts
Many employers will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Contact your human resources office to determine if your company participates. The IU Foundation also has a complete list that can be obtained by visiting http://iufoundation.iu.edu
