Biosketch
Dr. Susan J. Moore received her undergraduate degree at University of Pittsburgh; Masters at Emory University; and a post masters in the Primary Health Care/nurse practioner program at Indiana University; and a Doctorate in Nursing at Indiana University. She has been very connected to the community through her association with agencies, health providers, and patients. She initiated a gerontological wellness clinic in a high rise in the inner city seven years ago. She functioned as founder and project director of the Shalom Health Care Center for 10 years during her faculty appointment. The Center consists of two inner city advance nurse practitioner clinics for underserved minorities and three school based clinics. Her grant writing has provided over two million dollars used for direct care of clients coming through the Center. Dr. Moore has presented locally and regionally concerning outcomes measures in illness and health promotion for older adults; the advanced practice role; and designing and running a community clinic. Dr. Moore's research interests have been in the areas of gerontology health beliefs and practices, exercise, obesity, chronic illness behaviors, clinic outcome measures and simulation. Her dissertation focues on Individual's Beliefs Concerning Adherence to Prescribed Antihypertensive Medication Regimens.
