Biosketch
Dr. Deborah Cullen is a respiratory specialist and has education and training as a respiratory therapist and medical educator. As an Affiliate Member of the Joanna Briggs Institute, she is an expert in teaching evidence-based practice and specializes in conducting meta-analyses of qualitative findings. Dr. Cullen, a former president for the American Association of Respiratory Care, currently conducts research related to long-term oxygen therapy for the at-home patient. Dr. Cullen is also interested in measures, interventions, and therapy related to dyspnea, in particular, deep breathing or breathing techniques. She has authored web-based learning for such content areas as tobacco counseling, hemodynamics, and evidence-based practice. As a curricular expert and program consultant, she has developed curricular projects particularly in tobacco, respiratory therapy, and patient education. She is a mentor to students and colleagues and has published extensively in the mentoring literature. Dr. Cullen teaches evidence-based practice research to graduate students and has several teaching awards.
