Biosketch

Cheryl Erler, RN, MSN, has 30 years of experience in a variety of nursing roles. She has worked as a staff RN in a coronary care unit, critical care unit, and emergency department and has also served as a flight nurse. She taught nursing at Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Purdue University, and the University of Indianapolis prior to assuming her current position at Indiana University School of Nursing. Courses taught include physical assessment, adult health, including critical care, nursing management and professional nursing, and issues courses.

She has published research related to student nurse anxiety in the critical care unit, the professional role of the flight nurse, and has designed studies to explore the efficacy of ventilation strategies used during air transport of critically ill patients. Published research has been presented both nationally and internationally. She is active professionally in a variety of roles and currently is vice president of the Foundation for Air Medical Research and Education.
