Admission Application (including the RN to MSN Option)

The MSN program at the School of Nursing has a new 2 part online application process consisting of MSN Departmental Online Application (when applying for the major of your choice) and the University Application (needed to take courses at IUPUI).

The MSN Departmental Application does not cost to submit but the University application has a $50.00 application fee and will not submit without a credit card.

We recommend you print this page to use as a reference as you begin the online application. Applicants must submit the following materials to be considered for admission to:

  1. Complete and submit MSN Departmental Application
  2. Complete and submit the University Application
  3. Submit Official College and/or University transcripts from all institutions attended. If you attended Indiana University, please email Lisa Rose, Graduate Recorder for the School of Nursing, at lirose [at] iupui [dot] edu to request a copy of your IU transcript be printed and placed with your application materials. In the email please give full name and date of birth.
  4. Submit a copy of current Indiana RN license. International applicants not yet licensed by any state in the U.S. will need to submit evidence of passing the CGFNS exam before applying for an RN license in Indiana.
  5. Submit Essay (goal statement) of 200-250 words explaining your career goals, reasons for your choice of major, and why you want to pursue an advanced degree in nursing.
  6. Submit a current resumé which shows clear documentation of clinical practice as an RN.
  7. Applicants must agree to the essential abilities policy (PDF) of the School of Nursing, which states that students can demonstrate essential abilities in a variety of areas (judgment, neurological function, communication skills, emotional coping skills, intellectual/conceptual skills, and other behavioral attributes) as well as meeting all progression criteria.
  8. Provide three references using the  student appraisal form (PDF). We prefer the student mail them with their packet material. They can also be faxed to 317-274-2996, or mailed direclty to us at 1111 Middle Dr. #142D, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
