Students seeking admission to the nursing major must meet the following criteria:
- Be admitted to Indiana University as a degree-seeking student. Apply Now if you haven't yet done so.
- If you have previously attended IUPUI and have either earned a degree or been out for 2 or more semesters, you are required to submit a Returning Student Application. This must be done at the same time that you submit your School of Nursing application. The Returning Student Application can be found at: http://returnto.iupui.edu
- Students who have applied for undergraduate admission to IUPUI within the past 18 months may update their application without having to resubmit the application fee. If it has been more than 18 months since you applied, please submit a new application for admission.
- If you have previously attended IUPUI and have either earned a degree or been out for 2 or more semesters, you are required to submit a Returning Student Application. This must be done at the same time that you submit your School of Nursing application. The Returning Student Application can be found at: http://returnto.iupui.edu
- Maintain a minimum Indiana University cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale. Does not include transfer or "X" courses.
- Verify application requirements have been met on the campus to which the student applies.
- Minimum pre-nursing admission grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all completed course work required for admission. The nursing grade point average is calculated on all completed courses required for the BSN degree. Grades earned in transfer courses accepted and applied to required general education credit hours will count in the calculation of the admission GPA. FX'd grades will not be counted.
- Designate which courses will meet the cluster requirements where course choice is an option. Courses designated for the nursing major may be repeated only one time. Students must successfully complete all courses for the degree with a grade of C (2.0) or better by the second completed attempt. No more than 9 credits of the required (R) courses may be repeated. The second attempt will be used for application.
- Complete all required course work by established deadline date. This includes independent studies, correspondence course work, and courses for which students have received an incomplete (I). Students wishing to transfer required course work from a university other than Indiana University must be in good academic standing in that university and have achieved a grade of C (2.0) or higher in courses for which transfer is being requested. - Complete the TEAS V exam through the IUPUI Testing Center before the published application deadlines. ATI TEAS V Account Setup and Registration Information
- Repeat no more than three required cluster courses required for BSN degree. Of the three courses, only two failures will be allowed in science course work. (One science course and corresponding lab are considered one course.) A student must achieve a grade of C (2.0) or higher in all program requirements. This criterion also applies to any student wishing to transfer required cluster courses from a university other than Indiana University.
- Submit official transcripts to the university undergraduate admissions office, for all work being transferred from a university other than Indiana University. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that coursework completed at other colleges or universities has been officially evaluated by the Office of Admissions so that all transfer credit has been posted to the Indiana University transcript. Submitting inaccurate and false information or withholding information may result in denial of admission to the Indiana University School of Nursing or dismissal from the nursing program, if admitted.
- Submit program application by published due date. Applications received after the published deadline will not be considered. Students may reapply to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in a subsequent semester if they maintain eligibility.
