This course prepares the RN who will serve as the program director and the licensed nurse (RN or LPN) who will be the designated instructor for the 105-hour Basic Nurse Aide Training Program. You’ll focus on the concepts essential to teaching adults as well as techniques for preparing and teaching nurse aides in classroom and clinical settings. You’ll develop a program of learning according to established criteria. The setting for the training program is a nursing facility-based program or a non-nursing facility-based program in accordance with state and federal regulations.
You will:

  • Review the criteria necessary to develop the Basic Nurse Aide Training course in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Recognize the impact of a facility’s environment on the teaching and learning.
  • Apply adult learning concepts.
  • Learn the values and cultural differences that may impact learning.
  • Examine teaching and learning strategies.
  • Write behaviorally-stated objectives in order to objectively measure a learner’s performance.
  • Specify the tools and techniques used to assess the learning of the basic nurse aide trainee.
  • Recognize factors influencing the motivation and learning of the basic nurse aide trainee.
  • Plan a learning experience using behaviorally-stated objectives, content, teaching and learning strategies, time frame, and methods of evaluation.
