E-Learning for Staff Educators

Become savvy at facilitating learning in Web, classroom, and clinical environments. Learn all about using e-learning resources and tools such as the Internet, discussion forums, chat, e-mail, and electronic record keeping to promote active learning. Develop a strategic plan, integrate e-learning into current programs, and use appropriate teaching and evaluation strategies to promote learning.
You will:

  • Develop a strategic plan for e-learning in a health care organization.
  • Assess learner readiness for e-learning.
  • Integrate e-learning strategies into an orientation or staff education program.
  • Determine how to blend online learning, classroom learning, and clinical practice.
  • Choose appropriate activities to promote learning online.
  • Choose appropriate strategies to evaluate e-learning.
  • Apply what you are currently doing in your role as staff educator to an online environment.
  • Use plans, courses, and programs already developed for your learners as the foundation for work in this course.
  • Integrate already developed e-learning programs into your broader plans for orientation, staff development, or mandatory education.
  • Include optional skill builder activities to give you additional background on theories of learning, teaching strategies, and test construction techniques.

There must be at least six persons registered for the course to be held.

Required Computer Skills

You should have basic computing skills including word processing and navigating the Web. For additional information, see the basic computer and software requirements.

How You will be Evaluated

Participants must enter and actively participate in the course no later than five days after the course begins. You must complete all required assignments and the course evaluation by the course end date to receive a contact hour record.

Refund Policy

The registration fee less a $60 administrative fee is refundable according to the refund schedule below.

  • 100 percent refundable through the last day of the first full week of the course $290 minus the $60 administrative fee.
  • 50 percent refundable through the last day of the second full week of the course $145 minus the $60 administrative fee.
Transfer Fee

Beginning January 1, 2007, a transfer fee in the amount of 10% of the amount paid will apply when a request to transfer from the currently scheduled course to the next scheduled course is received and approved.  

The refund policy will still apply if participant later decides to drop the course.

The transfer fee and refund policies apply to individuals and groups taking the course for continuing nursing education.
