  • Homes
  • Nursing homes
  • Health departments
  • Nurse-managed clinics

The Center for Community and International Affairs processes all clinical partner affiliation agreements, schedules undergraduate clinical experiences, and coordinates the training of capstone preceptors.

Undergraduate students

Undergraduates begin clinical practice in the first semester after admission, working in hospital- and community-based settings to provide care to individuals of various ages and health states. Clinical experiences are a significant part of each subsequent semester and culminate with capstone, an intense four-week practicum in the semester prior to graduation. Capstone course requirements include:

  • Choosing a care setting through collaboration with faculty and a community clinical preceptor,
  • planning and organizing a learning experience, and
  • practicing professional nursing.

Graduate students

Graduate students are furnished with an outstanding array of preceptor-guided learning opportunities in advanced practice, administrative, educational, and research settings.
