Academic Advising
Through our academic advising, we provide students with important, useful information; assist them in their academic search; and ensure that they progress through the nursing program in the most efficient and appropriate way.
Undergraduate advising for pre-nursing students
Undergraduate students who have not yet applied or been admitted into the traditional nursing program receive their initial academic advising through a pre-nursing advisor in University College. This advisor helps students strategically plan their first few semesters’ coursework to meet the prerequisites needed to apply to the School of Nursing. Undergraduate advising
Students seeking advising for the Second Degree BSN option or the RN to BSN option receive all academic assistance directly from the nursing school advisors.
School of Nursing walk-in counseling: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
School of Nursing counseling by appointment: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Graduate advising
Prospective graduate students receive initial assistance from the graduate advisor in the Center for Academic Affairs. The graduate advisor assists with the application and admission process. Once admitted into a graduate program, individual students are paired with faculty advisors in the student’s major area. The graduate advisor continues to be a resource to students for other general issues, such as academic policies and procedures. Applicants to the RN to MSN program are required to have their academic transcripts evaluated.
Cybervising™
A new system—Cybervising—is under development that will allow current and prospective students to have real-time, virtual “meetings” with an academic advisor online. Using a Web camera, you will be able talk with an advisor about your plan of study, degree requirements, or the curriculum.
